Internet Marketing Guideline for Newbies

G'day,

I am a relative newbie to the whole IM scene. Just the other day I lEarnt the meaning of IMHO :), so that should tell you everything.

I have been involved in IM (Internet Marketing) for a while now.

I've thought about this and I think the list below sums up what I as a newbie has been have gathered from the the IM Marketing world in general:

1. To run a Successful IM business, 99% of the time you truly really have to be selling/doing something you like. Too many times people say I'd love to make Money Online, I'd love to have a Money making idea. Honestly, I reckon, if you are one of these people, you are wasting your time. Not because you won't make Money, but because you are concentrating too much on the notion of making Money, and not thinking about the things that can ac tually bring in the dough. To come out on top, in this congested market, you have to know what you are talking about. You collected collection items as a kid? There is an idea ... You are a programmer? programs sell! You like to cook? How about a unique recipie website? It truly is simple, as long as you concentrate on the right things!

2. It is important to get your ideas across in the correct manner! This cannot be overemphasized! Join forums. Fill in your profile, and your signature. And for God's sake, do not submit posts like Here is my affiliate link, click it. Instead, try to develop a working relationship with these people. Think of them as your work mates. Would you rather be a friend and business partner of an obnoxious brat who throws things in your face? Or would you be a friend and business partner of a friendly, caring, consciencious adult? Think about it!!!

3. Write articles! There is so many free article submission sites out that that plain beg yo u to submit your articles there. One or two articles a day should do. Make sure you have your url in the signature and make sure you post informative interesting things. Also, make sure you DO NOT plagiarise!!! How would you feel if others stole your work? And yes, it is truly stealing!

4. Write a blog. Blog about your daily activities. Link with other blogs.... Exposure from blogs and articles is so important but be sure to blog and write articles in the same niche that your business resides. No point attracting visitors to a recipie page that truly wanted to view some football results! Those visitors will never come back!

5. Get inbound links. Very important as well. Make sure you get as many meaningful inbound links as you can! By meaningful I mean inbound links that will potentially bring you customers. Links on niche forums, links on niche sites. Try link exchange (with real webmasters .... none of that viral stuff that will not get you anywhere)

6. D o not buy into Get rich in 5 minutes schemes! Things that sound too good to be true, usually are too good to be true.

7. If you will buy something, make sure the seller offers a Money back guarantee. This way you can always get your Money back if you are disappointed.

8. WORK HARD! IM TAKES TIME AND DEDICATION. IN TIME YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL, BUT IT DOES TRULY TAKE TIME! No SUCCESS IS OVERNIGHT!!!

There, I belive this should set us newbies on the right track!
