Kids Party Games and Activities

There are literally hundreds of kids Party Games and activities that can be made use of when planning a childrens Party in order to keep the kids occupied and happy. They are usually very flexible and can be altered easily to fit with any Party Theme. Take for example the game bobbing for apples. At Halloween it can become bobbing for mini pumpkins or during a Pool Party you can literally have the kids jump into the Pool and try to bring up toys or treats with only their mouths.

Smashing the Pinata is a fun activity at any Mexican Themed Party such as a Cinco de Mayo celebration, but it can certainly be adapted to other types of celebrations. How about a Christmas tree Pinata to shower the kids in treats of candy canes and walnuts, pecans and pistachios? It can be a lot of fun before the actual Holiday to get together with the children to create their very own Theme Pinata. Typically balloons can be blown up and tied together to form the basic shape and strips of newspaper soaked in a flour and water mixture are applied and left to dry. Once dry the balloon inside can be popped via a hole cut out to fill the pinata with candy and the outside can be painted.

Speaking of balloons they can make create props for kids Party Games. Simply filling up a few water balloons having the kids toss them back and forth while trying to keep them from popping is tension building fun, at least until one pops on someone. If you dont like the idea of water balloons you can set up a contest between some of the kids to see who can pop as many balloons with their bums as possible within say the frame of a couple of minutes.

Murder on the Block The Haunting Case...1980

To make a long story short, my mother sold her house to this couple, whom was introduced by my They were a very handsome couple indeed: both he and his were tall, young, thoughtful, and handsome; a striking couple you could say; and worked, both having good jobs, the main ingredients Id think for a successful life togetherfor the most part, and for buying a house. Although I didnt saydid I: God, sanity, jealousy, and a few other incidentals, but as you will see, they were all mixed up in this little, but live drama that took place on Cayuga Street a few decades ago; but who thinks of such things at a time one is selling a house, not me; nor did my mother.

In point of fact, my mother did sell the house to this couple, and did make a nice sizable profit in doing so. A nice little nest egg or you could call it, retirement fundin addition, for she was retiring at the time.

Well, to my understanding, and I do not know the complete facts, but many of them I do k now, the couple got into a fight: the fact I dont know, is what the fight was about. We could say, he beat her, and so I heard, or we could say, she found a lover, and she did sometime after she moved out of the house, but at the time she had decided to move out, I dont know this. That is, I dont know what actually the dispute or fight was about, and Im not sure if it matters for this story, or for any other reason to be honest. What happened down the road was uncalled for no matter how one looks at it. But then again, as I had mentioned before, or inferred, sanity may not have played a complete role in this drama; it never does, does it.

She was to move out of the house, and actually she did move out, or was in the process of moving out, for she did leave some of her cloths behind. This was not a wise move. And he remained in the house thereafter, night and day, night and day, night and day, night and day. Not even going to work, no work, no play, no anything; ni ght and day he remained in that house.

Now that she has moved out, and a short time has elapsed, I can say with certainty, she had found a new boy-friend during this time and the husband became aware of it. That among other reasons was why he could not go to work, lost his jobfor the most part, stayed in the house night and day, night and day, in the caller mostly; especially at night with the lights turned off.

One night she went home to get her cloths, this was not a wise thing either, but remember, the lights are off in the house, his car is parked down a few blocks [streets, unseen by the average eye, the unexpectant-eye.

Let me leap back a ting. While she remained dating this guy, and I assume she stayed at his place, or some hotel, but again, those facts are not known. Her ex-husband (now in the house) shut off all the lights in the house, borrowed a gun from a long time childhood friend of mine (asking for it three times; or until he felt he had t o give him the gun, not knowing exactly for what reasons; although we know what the purpose of a gun is for; protection, or to kill someone) and he stayed in the basement awaiting her foot steps.

He knew she would come sometime for her cloths, he knew her well; and I would think, most women would, but then, why alone? Where was her boyfriend I ask myself? Was he a coward? Perhaps he said: leave them be, or leave them there; its not worth the trouble; but again, she went to get them. Now she knew he was shrewd or deeper than that; and at this point, he was off balance, sitting in the basement, night after night, waiting for her, now with a gun. Ah, hindsight is not good; but we must go on with the story nonetheless; as scornful as it is going to be.

So he parked his car two blocks away, out of sight, I know Ive already mentioned this. And there he sat for a week and half. Soundless, stone-silent, in a dark absorbing anger inside his body, his mind, his chest, his intestines; each minute that passed his mind clinked like a clock waiting, waiting for the moment shed walk into his trap, his cobweb. What would he do, did he plan it all out? or was it only somewhat planned? In any case, this part he planned out well, for she was coming, and she did not spot his car, if she even considered that; thus, out of sight, out of mind.

He was so obsessed, he did not even go to work; people were wondering what had happened to him; but realizing he was going through a divorce, they left well enough alone. At this juncture, there he was planting seeds, playing dice with the demon. The criminal-hypnosis mind was working overtime, and the thirst for revenge was being planned. Its a funny thing, but demon seem to want revenge for you, and dont care how you get it, and seem to always work on the premise: who cares; and as unemotional as they can be, only lift an eyebrow when they see you prancing off to prison, because of revenge.

T he woman [his wife did return to get her cloths. And He did hear her foot steps when she entered the house. Now before I go any further with this, I want to say, I lived in this house for about eight-years of my life. And so I know every corner of it, the basement especially. She must have came in the backdoor; the reason being, the front being too noticeable, and noisy, plus the porch screen door was locked with a latch, not that secure but noisy. The back being less noisy and more predictable and the normal entrance one took at this particular house. From that point there are two bedrooms once you walk through the kitchen, but first the kitchen pantry, then the kitchen; there to the left was my mothers bedroom; and a bathroom then came between the two bedrooms, the second bedroom was grandpas bedroom, and the porch beyond that. The attic going up stairs was in the first bedroom area; this was where my brother and I slept.

To my understanding she would have went in the back door, through the housethe two kitchens I talked about, and into my grandfathers old bedroom, closest to the front door. A long walk back to the backdoor to get out, should she need to. Im sure she did not lock the backdoor, and the front was most likely locked, plus it had a front porch that would have been locked. And that would be another reason she had to go to the backonce the happening took place. In addition, the front door could only be opened and locked from someone inside the house; thus, she may not have had the keys to the main front door; I would expect not, and if she did, Im sure it was not her first thought, but the backdoor would have been. Again I say she had a long walk back to the backdoor. Or she would have had to make her escape through two locked front doors she may not have had keys for. In any case He new this.

As she walked through the kitchen-porch area, into the main kitchen, then through the dinning room, into the liv ing room, and made it to the front bedroom, which was to the left of the living room, she most likely felt safe, if she made it this far, and he hadnt leaped out on her. Now, the husband who was sitting down stairs at this time, awaiting her, was getting light from the arc light outside, which peered through the small basement windows, and so he knew she was about to enter the house when she did, a small window to his right was by the six steps it took to enter the backdoor outside; his timing now had to be exact. Thus, he could see her shadow walking up the steps of the embankment, to the backdoor, and perhaps even see her coat as she opened the door in the dead of winter. He heard the door open, but knew she had to enter the house first, so he didnt want to move; lest he scare her off for good; so he waited until she was far enough in the house, as a result, he would make it up the stairs before she could run out. So he waited.

Once she entered the backdoor area , and into the pantry and kitchen, he could Hear her foot steps above his head, he knew exactly where she was at; the old wooden floors were from the turn of the century, 80-plus years old. Now he new she was in my grandfathers old bedroom, their bedroom, or at least it was at one time. He walked about 25-feet going around the furnace, by the wine caller, where the one flight of wooden crackling as you stepped on them. He walked up themfirst slowly, as he listened to her foot steps, and tried to match his with hers, so she wouldnt hear his. I would guess she must have heard the wood cracking around the sixth or seventh step, there were thirteen.

I would also guess she did, and he most likely heard her walking quickly to investigate the sounds, or perhaps just to get the hell out of there; and possibly had figured out he was downstairs by the time he was on the 10th step, and if so, the last three-steps left was simply a leaped for him. She would have had to run ri ght into his arms.

What did happen at that point no one really knows, but he got her, pulled her down into the basement, where there were two cast iron wash tubs, and a drain under them. He beat her, cursed her, and shot her deadthis is as close to the truth as one can get. Cut her body up (we know this), put it in plastic bags, and the blood poured down the drain. When he came half to his senses, he bagged her and put her in his car. Isnt it funny, how we all come to our senses after the fact; it kind of tells me, youre only crazy for the moment you want to be. Anyhow, it was winter.

It was winter, and so he went about ten-miles from the house, put her body on a little freeway island, under the snow, and that is where she laid until the snow melted. What was he thinking by doing that is beyond me, but evidently the devil told him prison was not so bad? Why not hit Mexico, or South America, but no, he stayed in the house until spring. Went back to work, told everyone she left him, which they all knew this at present anyway.

And like every spring in Minnesota, the snow melted about two weeks later. And yes, they came knocking at his door. He was put into prison, where he remains to this writing; I hope.

The Vacant House

There is always more to such a story isnt that true. Well, the house was vacant for a very long time after the murder. Some one did purchase it although. Actually, the people that bought the house paid about half its worth, a real deal I heard they got this couple. But it was hard to sell after the murder, and the mortgage company and/or real estate people came to the conclusion it was better to take a loss, and again I say, the house was sold, and the people that lived in the house, did some real fine improvements to it. The people lived in the house for about a year. Thereafter they could not live in it any longer, they had to move out.

Leaping back again, just a bit and a few step s forward, and then to my present: no one would purchase it again, why, because it was haunted, so people had said. The previous owners had heard the sounds of a woman; foot steps, and seen things they never knew existed. It was a tomb. Lives were being lived in the shadows of this house; a lost drama acted out. And the visible world was subject to the invisible. Fear of the unknown was always present. Unrest and trembling took place.

Somehow the house burned down, and thereafter, it was never rebuilt.

I went there last summer [2001, and I noticed it was now a parking lot, where the house used to be. I went for a walk, on what I call, the old dirt road, or path, right behind where the house used to be. I used to walk it as a kid; there I talked to Christ, and my guardian angel. Its still therethe old dirt road.

I remember the house with fondness, and good old times. I was sad to hear some residue of a soul may have been lingering in the old wooden structu res of the house. It was where my grandfather, mother and brother lived. This was where we learned, played and where my brother would sneak out at night, by way of the back window from the attic where we slept at night; jumping onto the roof of the porch-pantry to join the, Cayuga Street Gang. He would sneak back the same way hours later.

His Money Winnings Soared

Do you know who the first professional Golfer was to hit the 9 million dollar mark?

My guesses would have been Arnold Palmer or possibly Jack Nicklaus.

It was Tom Kite.

Tom has had a remarkable 19 PGA wins, 7 Senior PGA wins and 1 major, the 1992 US Open. Tom also shot 62 four times while playing on tour.

In the 1980s he played in 53 consecutive events without missing the cut, which tied him for sixth overall with Vijay Singh in the PGA record books at the end of 2004.

Toms consistency and his great short game have been his biggest strengths.

How has Tom Kite been able to continually play winning Golf througho ut his career?

Kite is a big fan of the most basic principles of mental toughness: positive self-talk.

He says, You have to think effectively. Seeing the negative side of what happens on the Golf course is not effective thinking.

How To Stay Positive on the Golf Course

There are two steps to learning the art of positive self-talk.

The first is understanding that your thoughts and beliefs have a profound impact on your decisions.

Psychological studies on self-talk (the idea that what we say to ourselves matters) over the past 25 years has shown that human beings dont do things based on what happens to us.

W e do things based on what we THINK will happen to us.

We dont go to work because we get paidwe go to work because we THINK well get paid. You dont miss a putt because you missed your last one.

You miss it because you missed your last one and you THINK you will miss your next one. This is no small distinction.

The second step to learning how to positive self-talk is to genuinely understand what positive thinking IS.

Positive thinking doesnt mean that telling yourself youre playing well when you arentor telling yourself youre confident and cheerful when you arent.

It means telling yourself that the negative events you are going through are temporary.

If you hit a bad drive, you think, Now my nerves are settled so I can really drive the ball.

If you hit a bad putt, you think, I can use what I just learned about reading the green on my next putt.

This is the essence of positive thinking: making sure you view negative shots as a nat ural, yet TEMPORARY phenomenon during your Golf game.

It worked for Tom Kite. Why not you?

Ill talk to you again soon.

Your friend,

Lisa Brown

The Troy Burroghs Adventures in: Old Man Rice And the TriToldTales

I was reading the newspaper at the Barns & Noble Deli in Roseville Minnesota yesterday, I should have started this story out with, this is me, you know, Troy baby, Mr. Burroghs to those who are under 21. Anyways, as I was saying I was reading the newspaper yesterday, drinking my 4-shot Latte. Thats what it takes to settle me down. And I read about this lady who died at 82-years old, yes for real. She was due maybe, but here is what I remember, and it brought back some old memories. She lived on $500-dollars a month and evidently couldnt afford to turn the heat up. Well she died right next door to where I was reading, St. Paul; my good ol St. Paul, the best place in the Midwest, and the Southwest, and hick, its better than Paris, maybe.

Let me get to the end of this part one of this three part story. Next she went to the garbage sales, I mean, garage sales. Boy if my mother ever reads this. And no one thought much of it, that being her friends, apartment peo ple and all. When I looked in the paper at her, if you would have told me a bag lady froze to death, Id had believed you, but here was the story, in print, black and white, right on my table with my four-shot latte, my glasses fixed, and my eyes focused. She was the first lady, cant think of how they put it, some fancy wordsshe was the first newspaper woman photosphere, to circle the country and be allowed to follow the president where ever he went. She had a few snap-shots of him and her together. She was so very proud. You know that just tells you, you just do not know who your neighbor is; be it a tourist, a terrorist, or celebrity, past or possible new, or bag lady. Noooooopp, you just dont know.

Incidentally, the president I was talking about was Truman.

The Bank

Watching TV all day will get you no place my friend. Nevertheless, I used to work for a bank many moons ago; I worked my way up, up and away. I started out as a mailroom clerk, which is a 1 on a 10 scale level, to Assistant Operations Manger, or was it, assistant to the assistant; a long time ago, perhaps a 3.

As I was about to say, there was Tim, a young man who worked with two older men in the mailroom, on the second floor. And then there was Amy, who worked in the Wire-transfer room, she was a 5 on that scale I suppose. She was smug, some what cut, in a very plane way, and used to do the smug things to Tim. Id watch her as I walked by them, shed smile at me, and smug him. Well, I never did the smug thing to Tim, because I new Tim, plus, when I was a lad, I learned a lesson Ill never forget, but that comes next.

Well, one day Smug-Amy came to work, started reading the newspaper, and looked at it, oh I dont know, her head was bobbing up and down like a fish toying with a fishing line, and you got it, right at young Tim. She went up by me, and said,

Is this picture of Tim in the paper really him?

Sure it is Amy, we have a celebr ity here. She almost slashed her tongue across my nose. She told me she was trying to write and get a book published for years, and this guy just wrote, whatever he wrote, and hes in the newspaper, and she should be, and he got all the breaksand on and on, and one. And she repeated three books, and then added, Id give my right arm to get one book published.

Well, she didnt do the smug job on Tim anymore, matter-of-fact; she did the kiss-ass job I think on him; Ol well, Tim had his reasons for working there, all three of them.

Old Man Rice

My grandfather used to own a restaurant back when I was about eleven-years old, my brother was two years older than I. That was when hed drop us off and would tell us to go play around the building, and keep to ourselves, or hed pull my ears off its knobs. Well, Mick and I played well together, he was always bigger than I, and was a little fat, or maybe called heavy or, I think he was called tubby. Well there was a d ishwasher we met, a nice old man he was, when the time was over to rest between meals, he worked it seemed, he worked steadily from early morning to evening, hed rest outside in the Summer sitting on the back of steps, kind of alone Id noticed, now and then though. I went over to him and talked, he said he was Rice, so I always referred to him when I called Mick,

Theres old-man Rice, Im going to talk to him. Hed just smile, and Id rush over by him, then for some reason Id slow down, and walk with grace. Something told me his eyes maybe, his mannerisms, he had seen much in his day.

Hi, Id say to Mr. Rice.

Troy, hed say in a soft voice, looking right in my eyes, a smile, you look healthy and wild today, have you been fighting with your brother?

Yup, I said with a smug, but not too big.

How many brothers you got, he asked.

One sir, and hed look at me in my eyes as deep as deep could go. Then Mick came up and put his hand on the side of th e building resting it, listening to the old man with an indifferent smile, but polite.

Mick, Troy been calling you names.

Yup, like always.

Then the old man would sit back and tell us a story about meeting President Eisenhower, how grand it was. And I thought he forget about what he was going to say about Mick and me, but now that I think about it, he said enough, I think he was trying to say, I had only one brother, and that fighting with him was quite notable.

And I got thinking, the old man is loosing it, but I liked him. He took time out to talk to me. But when I started to get smug, hed say it was time for me to go, but I didnt want to go, I wanted my smug-time. He just wouldnt give it to me.

Well for three years my grandfather owned that restaurant, and we went there, then one summer Old Man Rice was gone. I asked grandpa what happened to him, he said he passed away, he was 83-years old, and his time was due. Then asked why he was w orking up to his last hours. He said because he could, and he didnt like to stay home. And his children were all grown up, and had their own lives to live. It was more of a resting place for him, a place to get paid, do a little work, and socialize. Plus he added, even if you do not talk, just being around people is a good thing, like going to a movie, you could watch TV, but its more exciting to go to the movies, then he added the shocker, Plus he had written 70-books son, and he was very tire.

I said, 70-books, you mean I knew a hero, something like that. He replied you can always know now the person you befriend was more famous than anyone else you will ever meet. That is why I got to write one book, this guy sold over thirty-six million books, and made sixteen-movies; his initials were, it doesnt matter, now does it. It just goes to show you, you never know who youre talking to.

Learn To Paint Like A Child

All children love to Draw or Paint. It matters little whether the result is an exact copy of reality because at that very moment reality is in the mind of the artist. As they Draw they are creators and each will stand back to admire what they have accomplished. It is not their desire to become an artist, they are there already!

There is that small child in all of us an artist inside that holds a perception of the world as expressed by our feelings and thoughts. It differs from everyone else; it is unique. But during the years of maturity we became self-conscious about our abilities. Unfortunately, we might have been criticized and decided that our Talents lay somewhere else. Because it was met with some form of disapproval, we stopped being so free with our expressions.

Picasso once said, All of my life I have been learning to Paint like a child. Did he succeed? I think he did, because he never let go of his child-like images. He was the master of i nnocence. Today his artworks are priceless, but at the time they were created Im sure some judged them harshly.

My first recollection of Drawing or Painting was around the age of ten. By high school I spent my meager earnings on oil Paints and Canvas. My passion was nature animals in particular and that was my subject material at the time. Talent has two definitions--a natural Ability or a developed skill. My parents couldnt send me to art school, so I depended on the former.

I am still Painting in my senior years without the benefit of schooling. There were times when I thought I should have learned the basics of form, reflective light, Color-wheel importance, composition, etc. Still, not everyone can deal with the pressure of grades or a structured format. I Paint from my heart, expre ssing what my mind dictates, and there are no schools that teach that. I give myself new challenges, just to see if I can produce this vision on Canvas to my own satisfaction. You don't have to have a certificate to do that.

Often we look at things without really seeing them. After all, our eyes are merely lenses; they have no knowledge, no memories and no experiences. To see well we must open our minds as well as our eyes. Perhaps for that reason I like to Paint the less-than-perfect subject material.

A broken sea-shell has more character than any perfect specimen. Models, just short of perfect beauty leave a little yet to be desired. My choice for portraits would be in the facial structure itself, eye or skin Color and character lines. Its been said that there are two times when a boy can be called beautiful -- at puberty, and when felled by the sword. I see in each of these a child-like perception and I am driven, at times, to put these images on Canvas.

Henri Matisse put it this way: Creation begins with vision. The artist has to look at everything as though seeing it for the first time, like a child.

Death in the Midwest

He met her in St. Paul, Minnesota, they both worked at the stockyards in South Saint Paul, Minnesota (Swifts Meat Packing Plant), he (he: being Earnist) and She Elsie. The moment perhaps was right, she took busses to get to work, he had a car, and thus, she started riding to work with him; however it came about I do not know. She was young back then, not knowing shed be with him (unmarried she was), be with him for forty-years: forward: who can tell so far in advance. In any case, Earnist had two kids, likewise, Elise had two kids. Earnist was still married but lived apart from his estranged wife.

Ah, yes, there was jealousy now and then, with both: Earnist and Elise, but for the most part, both grew old together. And during these many years, Earnist would not divorce his estranged wife, who owned a little business she had started when they had first gotten married. It was when Earnist was 70-years old, his wife had died, now Elsie thinking perchance, they could g et married. But it didnt happen. Then at 75-years old, Earnest had asked Elsie to marry, and she accepted, and still time passed, but there were issues to be ironed out, and the marriage did not come about. One such issue being, the children didnt like the idea She, Elsie might get the money their father had saved all those years, and wanted a contract-marriage.

Well, time went on, and Elsie had become a Christian, and told Earnie they could be friends, but distant friends, for it was not the way she felt God would liked things to be. And thus, Earnie retired to his home, some five miles from Elsies apartment, and became a drunk, and at the age of 80 died: a sad death.

Elsie was to live 13-more years. She was ten years younger than Earnie. But now she was 70, when Earnie had died. And those 13-years passed quickly. She was faithful to her God; and to her chilren, her two children she had become warmer, the woman that was once called Hard Hearted Hanna at he r work-place at Swifts, some 20-years previously. She had left Swifts Meat Packing Plant after 22-years, and had gotten two other jobs. Did some traveling with her children, after her father had died, and at age 83, she died.

The question comes up, or at least to my mind, was she ready to die? For die she did in 2003, at the age of 83-years old. Never married, with two grown children in their 50s. She did not fear death, if anything, she accepted it as a natural process, and embraced it; occasionally talked about it. Her dying words being: Im ok with it, Im ready. And so she was. I guess in my observations, she prepared herself for death, as she did for life; I dont think she wanted to live forever with that old worn out body. And when it came, although perhaps a bit takenback, she must have saw death on its own terms a new adventure over the horizon. And thus, she died, in the Midwest, as did her father, her long time companion, Earnie, and now herself.

I suppose if you were to sum her life up, she was just one death among many, in the midwest. She will be remembered though, perhaps not like Alexander the Great, or the heroes of Troy, but then she didnt even take the time to read them anyhow, so they were nothing to her, as I suppose such heroes wanted the world, after their death, to acclaim them as, gods, that isbut she wanted only to be remembered by the folks she knew well, or best on earth, in addition, her God, whom she felt she would be with anyhow; again, to have her children remember her. I can hear her saying, ...lets get on with the new show. She was life, simple as it was (as it should be), and never took anyone elses, never looked back, she became at the end, Soft Hearted Hanna, if anything.

Landscape: One of the Most Beautiful Cosmic Art

The cosmos, both in appearance and reality is a beautiful and diverse natural art. The Landscapes, exposing a Beautiful Art and existing in the cosmos surely adds to the natural beauty of the universe. Landscapes are designated to be a form of art, for, like art it is unique, creative, symbolic and expressive, probably created by an Intelligent Designer who is beyond our perception.

The planetoids, the Milky Way, the galaxy and all others, partaking in the system of the cosmos are undoubtedly beautiful but as a matter of fact, the lavishing beauty of Landscapes can be personally experienced by all, which has made mankind very intimate to the various beautiful Landscapes existing in the world.

The very word 'Landscape' is derived from the Dutch, 'Landscape' meaning a sheaf or sometimes as a cultivated land. Landscapes, a Beautiful Art depicts different sceneries such as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, forests and so on.

The blooming flowers, the twilight of the horizon, the twitter of the birds, the passionate red of the rising sun inclusively make the Landscapes, a Beautiful cosmic Art. It is a well-approved maxim that beauty beholds in the eye of the perceiver.

The same thing might not be designated as universally beautiful.
