Case Dismissed A Short Story on Marital Rape

Ankita Irani was an ace Advocate. She was known for her truthful, straightforward and blunt replies. It was taken for granted that if she takes up a case she will Win ! Although an eye sore to the Criminal World but the awe that she carried was too much to defy. She had one motto though Fight for the truth and only the truth.

Her secretary, Susmita, a Junior Trainee Advocate, came to her with a request.and she was very sure that Ankita Madam will keep her request. It was a case of Marital Rape, and Susmita had seen her Madam take up cases of the underdog and how she left no stone unturned to get them justice and she won.

Madam , I have a very interesting case in handthe person is actually a distant relative of mine and its a case of Womans exploitation. said Susmita.

Is it ..Womans exploi tation eh? So you know it already that its a case& you have given it a name as well said Ankita jokingly.

No no madam, actually its a case of Marital Rapeshe is a distant cousin of mine actually.its a sad case.replied Susmita.

How distant? asked Ankita.

Well a lot ..I have hardly met her ..but she happens to be related from my Mothers side.said Susmita.

And what is her complaint? asked Ankita.

Marital Rape.I mean her husband forces her to have sex daily with him.said Susmita reluctantly.

So?! Your cousin wants to have sex every fortnightly or Monthly ..or yearlyhow does she like to chalk out her sex-routine? ask ed Ankita.

Susmita was totally taken aback by the nonchalant attitude of Ankita Madam. She thought that this case would excite Madam a lot and she would jump to take up the case ..but the scenario was totally different !

No..madamactuallyI hardly know her..Susmita said.

Is she educated asked Ankita.

Oh! Ofcourse Madam she has done History Hons from one of Kolkatas most prestigious colleges she got a higher 2nd Division. replied Susmita.

Hmmso she is educated and she has been to a Metropolitan city for higher studies which also means that she is amply exposed to City life right?

Ofcourse madam , she lives near Dumdum which is now included under Kolkata.

So..has she told you her preferred sex-routine? asked madam.

No madam I have not personally met herjust thinking if you would take the case, Ill bring her to you..money is no problem madam her father is a very rich Contractor. replied Susmita.

Then whats her problem? ! Let her divorce that bloke and live happily ever after her father has the money let him help her start afresh let her do some Professional Course or maybe B.Ed. and be independent .and I was thinking that she belongs to some poor family whose parents have wed her off somehow and now living hand to mouth

Oh! No no Madam- they are very rich in fact gave some kilos of gold in dowry as we hear her Uncle is a Goldsmith and they have 3 big shops in barra bazaar.

So basically the victim of Marital Rape is an educated Lady ,bred in metropolitan city, belongs to a rich family right?

Yeahmadam..but you know the divorce is not possible they are orthodox family such things are a taboo in the societysaid Susmita.

Well ,in that case, ask her to be like a door-mat and live sadly ever after with her husbandwhy ? she should thank her lucky stars that her husband is not going to some brothel or not going to watch some dance-balas in night club he is seeking love from his legally wedded wife damn it !!...and what does her family expect the Indian Penal court to do ?! chalk out a sex-chart for her and hand it over to her husband I suppose ?

Well madam.. rumors are such that he ..her husband I mean.. is not all that loyal he is having an affair with some neighborhood lady someones wife during morning hours, he spends time with her while her husband is in office said Susmita.

Morning hours he is spending time with a married desperate housewife !bravo! and when does he go to office may I know? asked Madam.

He is a businessman just delegates the duties and then heads for that Ladys house!

So?! The parents of the educated History honors girl did not find out about the future son-in-law.. and what about his own parents ? they dont stop him fr om visiting that lady?

I suppose they thought that after marriage he would be alright.. so the wedding took place in a haste.

Why?! Were they under the impression that Calcutta University Professors are teaching tantra-mantra to their History honors students that they thought she will heal their son with her magic touch?

Actually madam she is averse to sex she has more of a philosophical bent of mind..she writes poetry as well

And what is his education level? is he a graduate?

I dont think so Madam.. he barely managed to pass Higher Secondary

Oh! Well, so this is where the problem lies a total mismatch a case of dumb parents wedding off their equally dumb daughter to some dumber and lesser educated than her idiot !..and being exposed to films, movies and even blue movies which are easily available nowadays what did she expect of marriage her husband will read out stanzas from some Holy epic? Firstly, her parents should have found out the character and whereabouts of the fellow, then matched the education qualificationsdid they meet ..or how long did they have a courtship period? asked Madam.

Courtship?! Oh! No madam such things are not allowed in such families! They met only twice before marriage and that too with other family members around !

Oh! so such families are not ashamed to talk about their daughters sex life in public knowing very well what a joke they would be in the society eventually! Courtship does not mean jumping on bed its meeting and exchanging viewpoints ,likes and dislikes- if such a thing had happened then this girl would have known that he is not her sort and would have refused him and looked for someone with a philosophical bent of mind there is no dearth of such men in Kolkata at least !said Madam.

No Madam..her age was also increasing she was already 25 and they were looking for a suitable groom for long.

And they found their suitable groom in a sex st arved poodle so very good then why complain? I am sorry Susmita this is a case of an educated , well to do family girl, bred in a metropolitan city who was unfortunately born in a family which is still holding on to age-old ideas about women and her marriageable age ,who did not do a proper homework while selecting their son-in-law and gave away their daughter in a haste as if she was some muck born accidentally to them. Probably its because of their attitude towards girl-child that God gave them this punishment that they will now have to run from post to pillar for getting justice for their daughter !!...and just imagine the nature of the case the most shameful and tabooed of all topics in India Sex Life!...Sorry Susmita from my side I dismiss this case !

10 Top Tips To Consider When Buying Theatre Tickets

The word 'Theatre' is the act of performing stories in front of a viewing audience using combinations of things, such as speech, music and dance. Theatre as we know it, takes on many forms such as opera, plays and pantomime.

When one wishes to see a performance at the Theatre, we have to purchase Theatre tickets. Here are some buying tips to bear in mind: -

1)Check the face value of the Theatre ticket. If you are purchasing this ticket in person, ask to view it first.

2)Check that your chosen seat does not have any restrictions from a viewing perspective. If in doubt ask to see the Theatre seating plan.

3)If you are purchasing tickets from a Theatre ticket agency, ensure that they are a member of 'STAR' (The Society of Ticket Agent s & Retailers).

4)If you go to buy tickets from a ticket agency in person, check the form before signing for it. Every ticket should show the value of the ticket and where you are supposed to be seated.

5)When buying tickets over the phone or on the internet, ask if you can collect your tickets before the Theatre performance.

6)Theatre ticket agents invariably charge a booking fee. This will usually be no more than a quarter of the indicated face value of the Theatre tickets.

7)Discount tickets for a lot of shows are available from the Theatre ticket booth.

8)A lot of Theatres now sell tickets on the internet. However, please note that a larger range of tickets are often available from the box office.

9)If you or someone attending a Theatre performance is disabled, always check with the the Theatre about disabled access before you make a booking.

10) Don't buy tickets from 'ticket touts'. They can often be found on the street trying to sell tickets.

I Woke Up This Morning To This Email

Here's the message . . .

=======
Hallo Daegan!

I am a member of your company since two months, but I did not get anybody in my downline and therefore I am quitting now.
======

What an attitude for success, right?

The great Jim Rohn once said that the world is divided into two types of people, those that understand that in order to make a fire you have to feed it with wood and those that say just give me give me heat and then I'll add a little wood.

This person seems to be of the later variety.

You understand the fault in thinking that you should be given results and then you'll do a little work.

It goes against the laws of the universe!

Action leads to reaction.

If you want something in life you have to work for it.

There is no other way!

I wanted to bring this email to light just to illustrate that there are people out there that just don't grasp the basics.

You can try to help them and put th em on the right path, but in the end, from my own personal experience, most of the time it only ends up being a waste.

Further the great Jim Rohn says . . .

Everything magic in life is challenging, but once you understand the challenge and set to work on it the magic happens.

To me, network marketing is pure magic.

It gives you the opportunity to stamp your own ticket in life.

Once mastered, there is no greater reward than helping others realize their financial dreams while fulfilling your own in the process.

The challenge is How can you best do this in your own unique way?

But,

Once you figure this out and add a little wood to the fire the magic begins!

I Can't Write Jokes but You Can Become a Standup Comic

This is Taylor Jones, the hack writer.

Im a prolific writer of much needed articles.

I wrote from scratch most of the over 150 articles Ive posted on www.ezinearticles.com during the last two months.

Okay, so some were not much needed, but over 15,000 folks have visited the articles along with over 100 ezine publishers.

Its true. I can write on any subject.

What I cant do is write jokes.

Ive tried to learn the craft.

I cant.

However, I did find a website that might get you started in writing jokes and could even get you paid in applause, or even money, by doing standup comedy. The site is http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/minis/mini/standupMINI/standupMINI2.html.

Good Luck!

Im sure you will become famous.

If you do, maybe you can drop me off a ticket to one of your shows when you make the big-time and perform in Southern Idaho.

We live in the Banana Belt of Idaho. Kids and adults here leave there coats at home if the temperature gets over 25 degrees.

The other night we took our Idaho grandkids to dinner. The four-year-old had a sweater but no coat.

I said, Bob, where is your coat?

She said, Home.

I think the temperature was about 7 degrees.

Bob is a Girl. Her given name is not Bob. About a year ago she said, My name is Bob!

Now nobody dares call her anything else.

Kids say the funniest things as Art Linkletter use to say.

My aunt was on his show. She was the oldest mother in the United States with the youngest baby.

That would be my cousin, Billy.

Where in the heck are you, Billy?

When my daughter-in-law had triplets up in Washington State, our four-year-old granddaughter said, Ive got a new sister and she has two brothers.

We went to a recital after dinner. I was afraid that everybody was going to freeze to death (especially Bob).

It was so cold that the red banner around the Sizzler sign turned b lue.

Ive often wondered why the lettering saying Sizzler is not colored RED rather than a cold color like blue or green, whichever it is.

Well, how hot was your steak by the time the girl brought it to you?

Do they call thatTruth in Advertising?

Ive only bought one steak at Sizzler.

I ordered medium rare and they brought me medium horsehide.

If it wasnt cold when I got it, it sure was when I nailed it to my boot.

I like to go to Sizzler. Ive learned to order the salmon.

The salmon is served with rice pilaf and that yummy Texas toast.

You can get the soup, salad, and dessert bar for an extra buck.

I think I told you that my aortic valve is from a pig.

Im grateful for that pig. I have a little stuffed pig on top of my monitor. He is pink. He wares a bikers jacket that says Harley Davidson. If I have chest pains again, he will hop on his bike and get the hell out of here.

Do you have those little Windows po p-ups while you are typing?

Mine just said,Your Virus protection has been updated.

The computer techs can hardly keep up with the new Viruses.

Sometimes one will pop up and say The Kiddlelooper Virus is an insidious worm that enters your computer and erases your hard drive if you turn your computer off after reading your email and then turn it back on again.

The last time I turned off my computer was 1963.

Well, I have to go now.

The wind jus t blew my horse over.

Tell Me A Story

Since the dawn of time mankind has been a sucker for a story. We may be wearing synthetics now instead of skins, but that one truth has not changed. Whether you are communicating with employees, customers or the media, a story has the most power.

Recently I read a piece in Bull Dog Reporter quoting Wall Street Journal Reporter Don Clark on the power of narrative to break through the media wall. Here is an excerpt from the article:

Know what constitutes a front-page piecetell a story. Were not just looking for announcements, says Clark. Were looking for great story elements. Thats how we work. For example, your story should include a level of dramalike a guy so upset with his company stock that he flew a plane into a mountain. But drama is just one element. Some others:

Narrative: What people want to read now is some narrative and a story line. For example, we tell stories through characters and peoplenot Products, Clark shares. A good illustration would b e somebody saying their plan worked just like they thought it would. Well, thats not a story. We want things that are unexpected. We want to hear the stumbles, the roadblocks and the bad luckthen the good news at the end. But PR people always start with the good news.

Conflict: Similarly, journalists are interested in conflict, Clark says. For example, companies suing each other has plenty of tension. A lot of people want to say they have no competition. But thats a great way not to get written about.

Now, how can you incorporate storytelling into your organizations publicity efforts? Just like Stephen King does. Start with the hero in his everyday, believable world. Then, take him on a journey into an unbelievable world. The hero completes his journey, returning to the old world inextricably changed. You also need a universal theme or a unique point of view that Propels the story forward, like good triumphs over evil, or the small outfoxes the large opponent.

Next, remember the idea is not to sell the audience something, it is to engage them.

So, whats your story? Weave one of your own to break through the clutter.

Kids Party Games and Activities

There are literally hundreds of kids Party Games and activities that can be made use of when planning a childrens Party in order to keep the kids occupied and happy. They are usually very flexible and can be altered easily to fit with any Party Theme. Take for example the game bobbing for apples. At Halloween it can become bobbing for mini pumpkins or during a Pool Party you can literally have the kids jump into the Pool and try to bring up toys or treats with only their mouths.

Smashing the Pinata is a fun activity at any Mexican Themed Party such as a Cinco de Mayo celebration, but it can certainly be adapted to other types of celebrations. How about a Christmas tree Pinata to shower the kids in treats of candy canes and walnuts, pecans and pistachios? It can be a lot of fun before the actual Holiday to get together with the children to create their very own Theme Pinata. Typically balloons can be blown up and tied together to form the basic shape and strips of newspaper soaked in a flour and water mixture are applied and left to dry. Once dry the balloon inside can be popped via a hole cut out to fill the pinata with candy and the outside can be painted.

Speaking of balloons they can make create props for kids Party Games. Simply filling up a few water balloons having the kids toss them back and forth while trying to keep them from popping is tension building fun, at least until one pops on someone. If you dont like the idea of water balloons you can set up a contest between some of the kids to see who can pop as many balloons with their bums as possible within say the frame of a couple of minutes.

Murder on the Block The Haunting Case...1980

To make a long story short, my mother sold her house to this couple, whom was introduced by my They were a very handsome couple indeed: both he and his were tall, young, thoughtful, and handsome; a striking couple you could say; and worked, both having good jobs, the main ingredients Id think for a successful life togetherfor the most part, and for buying a house. Although I didnt saydid I: God, sanity, jealousy, and a few other incidentals, but as you will see, they were all mixed up in this little, but live drama that took place on Cayuga Street a few decades ago; but who thinks of such things at a time one is selling a house, not me; nor did my mother.

In point of fact, my mother did sell the house to this couple, and did make a nice sizable profit in doing so. A nice little nest egg or you could call it, retirement fundin addition, for she was retiring at the time.

Well, to my understanding, and I do not know the complete facts, but many of them I do k now, the couple got into a fight: the fact I dont know, is what the fight was about. We could say, he beat her, and so I heard, or we could say, she found a lover, and she did sometime after she moved out of the house, but at the time she had decided to move out, I dont know this. That is, I dont know what actually the dispute or fight was about, and Im not sure if it matters for this story, or for any other reason to be honest. What happened down the road was uncalled for no matter how one looks at it. But then again, as I had mentioned before, or inferred, sanity may not have played a complete role in this drama; it never does, does it.

She was to move out of the house, and actually she did move out, or was in the process of moving out, for she did leave some of her cloths behind. This was not a wise move. And he remained in the house thereafter, night and day, night and day, night and day, night and day. Not even going to work, no work, no play, no anything; ni ght and day he remained in that house.

Now that she has moved out, and a short time has elapsed, I can say with certainty, she had found a new boy-friend during this time and the husband became aware of it. That among other reasons was why he could not go to work, lost his jobfor the most part, stayed in the house night and day, night and day, in the caller mostly; especially at night with the lights turned off.

One night she went home to get her cloths, this was not a wise thing either, but remember, the lights are off in the house, his car is parked down a few blocks [streets, unseen by the average eye, the unexpectant-eye.

Let me leap back a ting. While she remained dating this guy, and I assume she stayed at his place, or some hotel, but again, those facts are not known. Her ex-husband (now in the house) shut off all the lights in the house, borrowed a gun from a long time childhood friend of mine (asking for it three times; or until he felt he had t o give him the gun, not knowing exactly for what reasons; although we know what the purpose of a gun is for; protection, or to kill someone) and he stayed in the basement awaiting her foot steps.

He knew she would come sometime for her cloths, he knew her well; and I would think, most women would, but then, why alone? Where was her boyfriend I ask myself? Was he a coward? Perhaps he said: leave them be, or leave them there; its not worth the trouble; but again, she went to get them. Now she knew he was shrewd or deeper than that; and at this point, he was off balance, sitting in the basement, night after night, waiting for her, now with a gun. Ah, hindsight is not good; but we must go on with the story nonetheless; as scornful as it is going to be.

So he parked his car two blocks away, out of sight, I know Ive already mentioned this. And there he sat for a week and half. Soundless, stone-silent, in a dark absorbing anger inside his body, his mind, his chest, his intestines; each minute that passed his mind clinked like a clock waiting, waiting for the moment shed walk into his trap, his cobweb. What would he do, did he plan it all out? or was it only somewhat planned? In any case, this part he planned out well, for she was coming, and she did not spot his car, if she even considered that; thus, out of sight, out of mind.

He was so obsessed, he did not even go to work; people were wondering what had happened to him; but realizing he was going through a divorce, they left well enough alone. At this juncture, there he was planting seeds, playing dice with the demon. The criminal-hypnosis mind was working overtime, and the thirst for revenge was being planned. Its a funny thing, but demon seem to want revenge for you, and dont care how you get it, and seem to always work on the premise: who cares; and as unemotional as they can be, only lift an eyebrow when they see you prancing off to prison, because of revenge.

T he woman [his wife did return to get her cloths. And He did hear her foot steps when she entered the house. Now before I go any further with this, I want to say, I lived in this house for about eight-years of my life. And so I know every corner of it, the basement especially. She must have came in the backdoor; the reason being, the front being too noticeable, and noisy, plus the porch screen door was locked with a latch, not that secure but noisy. The back being less noisy and more predictable and the normal entrance one took at this particular house. From that point there are two bedrooms once you walk through the kitchen, but first the kitchen pantry, then the kitchen; there to the left was my mothers bedroom; and a bathroom then came between the two bedrooms, the second bedroom was grandpas bedroom, and the porch beyond that. The attic going up stairs was in the first bedroom area; this was where my brother and I slept.

To my understanding she would have went in the back door, through the housethe two kitchens I talked about, and into my grandfathers old bedroom, closest to the front door. A long walk back to the backdoor to get out, should she need to. Im sure she did not lock the backdoor, and the front was most likely locked, plus it had a front porch that would have been locked. And that would be another reason she had to go to the backonce the happening took place. In addition, the front door could only be opened and locked from someone inside the house; thus, she may not have had the keys to the main front door; I would expect not, and if she did, Im sure it was not her first thought, but the backdoor would have been. Again I say she had a long walk back to the backdoor. Or she would have had to make her escape through two locked front doors she may not have had keys for. In any case He new this.

As she walked through the kitchen-porch area, into the main kitchen, then through the dinning room, into the liv ing room, and made it to the front bedroom, which was to the left of the living room, she most likely felt safe, if she made it this far, and he hadnt leaped out on her. Now, the husband who was sitting down stairs at this time, awaiting her, was getting light from the arc light outside, which peered through the small basement windows, and so he knew she was about to enter the house when she did, a small window to his right was by the six steps it took to enter the backdoor outside; his timing now had to be exact. Thus, he could see her shadow walking up the steps of the embankment, to the backdoor, and perhaps even see her coat as she opened the door in the dead of winter. He heard the door open, but knew she had to enter the house first, so he didnt want to move; lest he scare her off for good; so he waited until she was far enough in the house, as a result, he would make it up the stairs before she could run out. So he waited.

Once she entered the backdoor area , and into the pantry and kitchen, he could Hear her foot steps above his head, he knew exactly where she was at; the old wooden floors were from the turn of the century, 80-plus years old. Now he new she was in my grandfathers old bedroom, their bedroom, or at least it was at one time. He walked about 25-feet going around the furnace, by the wine caller, where the one flight of wooden crackling as you stepped on them. He walked up themfirst slowly, as he listened to her foot steps, and tried to match his with hers, so she wouldnt hear his. I would guess she must have heard the wood cracking around the sixth or seventh step, there were thirteen.

I would also guess she did, and he most likely heard her walking quickly to investigate the sounds, or perhaps just to get the hell out of there; and possibly had figured out he was downstairs by the time he was on the 10th step, and if so, the last three-steps left was simply a leaped for him. She would have had to run ri ght into his arms.

What did happen at that point no one really knows, but he got her, pulled her down into the basement, where there were two cast iron wash tubs, and a drain under them. He beat her, cursed her, and shot her deadthis is as close to the truth as one can get. Cut her body up (we know this), put it in plastic bags, and the blood poured down the drain. When he came half to his senses, he bagged her and put her in his car. Isnt it funny, how we all come to our senses after the fact; it kind of tells me, youre only crazy for the moment you want to be. Anyhow, it was winter.

It was winter, and so he went about ten-miles from the house, put her body on a little freeway island, under the snow, and that is where she laid until the snow melted. What was he thinking by doing that is beyond me, but evidently the devil told him prison was not so bad? Why not hit Mexico, or South America, but no, he stayed in the house until spring. Went back to work, told everyone she left him, which they all knew this at present anyway.

And like every spring in Minnesota, the snow melted about two weeks later. And yes, they came knocking at his door. He was put into prison, where he remains to this writing; I hope.

The Vacant House

There is always more to such a story isnt that true. Well, the house was vacant for a very long time after the murder. Some one did purchase it although. Actually, the people that bought the house paid about half its worth, a real deal I heard they got this couple. But it was hard to sell after the murder, and the mortgage company and/or real estate people came to the conclusion it was better to take a loss, and again I say, the house was sold, and the people that lived in the house, did some real fine improvements to it. The people lived in the house for about a year. Thereafter they could not live in it any longer, they had to move out.

Leaping back again, just a bit and a few step s forward, and then to my present: no one would purchase it again, why, because it was haunted, so people had said. The previous owners had heard the sounds of a woman; foot steps, and seen things they never knew existed. It was a tomb. Lives were being lived in the shadows of this house; a lost drama acted out. And the visible world was subject to the invisible. Fear of the unknown was always present. Unrest and trembling took place.

Somehow the house burned down, and thereafter, it was never rebuilt.

I went there last summer [2001, and I noticed it was now a parking lot, where the house used to be. I went for a walk, on what I call, the old dirt road, or path, right behind where the house used to be. I used to walk it as a kid; there I talked to Christ, and my guardian angel. Its still therethe old dirt road.

I remember the house with fondness, and good old times. I was sad to hear some residue of a soul may have been lingering in the old wooden structu res of the house. It was where my grandfather, mother and brother lived. This was where we learned, played and where my brother would sneak out at night, by way of the back window from the attic where we slept at night; jumping onto the roof of the porch-pantry to join the, Cayuga Street Gang. He would sneak back the same way hours later.
