Belly Dance Over 100 Years with the Wrong Name

Belly dancing is practised and enjoyed by people around the world, but few realise that the name they lovingly know it by was really just an accident.

Rightfully, Belly Dance should be known as Oriental Dance or Raks Sharqi, Dance of the East, a collection of similar dance styles that originated in the Near East, Middle East and/or Far East. There are actually more names that could be used depending on the individual styles such as Baladi meaning dance from the country or the Turkish and Greek name Oryantal Dansi meaning Dance Oriental.

So, where did the name Belly Dance come from?

This genre of dance was not properly introduced to the Western World until the 18th century and even then was rarely seen until the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1893, Oriental Dancers performed at the World Exposition in Chicago and caused quite a stir due to cultural attitudes of the time. This was further exacerbated by burlesque performers, who took aspects of the dance and created their own titillating routines that bore no real resemblance to the traditional dances of the East but convinced Westerners that it was a sexual and immoral dance.

In a French review, a similar style of dance was labeled Danse Du Ventre or Dance of the Stomach which is believed to have quickly developed into the name Belly Dance. Even today that name causes dismay among lovers of Oriental Dance who see it as tainting the origins of the ancient art form.

Belly Dance is not even a good description. Belly Dancing does require movement of the abdominal muscles but is a dance of the whole body, incorporating upper and lower body muscle isolations, graceful arm movements, hip rolls and pelvic tilts.

However unsuitable the name might be, Belly Dance is known and recognised the world over. Instructors may prefer to label their classes Oriental Dance or Raks Sharqi but the recognition that the name Belly Dance brings will continue to ensure its use , at least in the West, for many years to come.

Spirits of Lemuria sketches

The Nefilim: Angelic Conquerors Spirits of Lemuria

Our neighbors throughout the centuries have not simply been the giants and ghosts and angelic beings I have talked about in other stories, or for that matter the Shinning Ones, aliens but also the Spirits of Lemuria, whom are a little different, yes indeed, a different breed.

We must first look at Atlantis. When the Watchers and the Nefilim inhabited the earth, they slept with the women of Atlantis, as well as with the women in and around what man has called the Garden of Eden where the tree of life remains to this very day in and around the mouth of the Persian Gulf, in the Middle East. This is where King Gilgamesh of Ur went looking for eternal life, found Noah and lost the gift in the waters thereabouts, another legend of sorts.

Atlantis was the Kingdom of the Atlantic or put another way, the Empire of the East, and Lemuria was the kingdom of the Pacific, and again, one could say the Empire of the Wes t. We shall have to travel back into the time of Leo, about 10,500 BC to about 9600 BC to visit this land and city of sorts. The war of the worlds took place sometime within this time frame also. And the angelic forces that inhabited the world, which bred several forms of life, one being the giants of the Watchers, half-breeds you could say; who were half sprit and half man. Some did not need to eat, others had to; King Gilgamesh of Ur, around 2700 BC was such a half-breed, and with supernatural strength, like the demigod Hercules, whom was also a hybrid steaming from this premise. But I am getting ahead of myself.

As I was saying, they bred different results. The Demigods for instance were one third human, one-third spirit, and the rest beast. But there was another breed a little different. They looked almost normal, like humans. Some had big ears although, and others not. But they were all hybrids nonetheless. These were the Spirits of Lemuria, their anc estors being none other than the angelic force of the time of Leo. They would be part of the Empire of the Pacific, which stretched from Easter Island to Tahiti, Hawaii, Guam, and the Solomon Islands, and throughout the Pacific.

At one time this area was more of a continent, then a conglomeration of islands. These ancient spirits were born before the Great Flood of Noah, and would wander from island to island, looking for a home.

When Atlantis crumbled to the bottom of the sea, so did the Empire of Lemuria, only a little sooner I do believe. Matter-of-fact, so did the whole world. Yes, the world went upside down. That is why you can witness such odd things like Lake Titicaca 13,500 feet up in the mountains of Peru; where I have been too. As well as the agrological site of Tiwanacu 13,000 feet up in the Bolivian Mountains; the questions that have been asked are,

How did the lake get up there, and How did man cut out a 130-ton platform, to from a temple s ite, which I sat on. And how did it fall to the ground.

The other question is, How did it fall when there has never been an earth quake there? I suggest, an earth crust movement took place. Yet man is still wondering; and how about the buried city roads off the coast of Florida and off the coast of Japan. The world was washed anew.

Exploration

These new spirits, were slightly human, but had a lot of spirit in them. They could change forms like their angelic ancestors. But while on earth they had to eat, yet could also travel through space.

Some had long ears others did not. Some were female others male. They could die, or be killed like humans. Some did leave the surface of the earth, to such planets as Mars and the Moon; and I sure to other locations throughout our solar system and beyond. For when Christianity came to the islands of the Pacific, many of them escaped to just such places.

If I may backtrack a little bit, the Titans [also kn own as the Watchers, who mingled with the Atlantis, and humans, also created hybrids with the Shinning Ones [aliens. This is why the Shinning Ones felt obligated if not somewhat pushed to connect with the Nefilim who escaped into space leaving the Watchers and the demigod giants to fend for themselves when God sent his angelic force to bury the Watchers for their evil deeds they had committed among mankind.

In time even the Island Empires mostly vanished and all one can see now on the islands are the burial platforms. Again, when Christianity arrived the supernatural hermits left. These platforms now are used for gravestones and floors for houses, were once temples and burial vaults, monolithic in style, 4000 to 5000 BC where. These stone structures are witnesses throughout the islands of the pacific, that a civilization did exist, to include: Tahiti, Hawaii, Easter Island, Marques us, Solomon Islands, etc., some of this stonework looks pre-Inca. Much of these stones are considered cyclopean in nature.

Who where they

Who were these pre-Incas, or so called Spirits of Lemuria, others have called them many things, one name being Aku-aku, and I will not explore this too much, but others call them Tatame, and yet others connect them to the Bird Cult of the islands of the Pacific. But everything leads to the Nefilim and the Watchers if you go back far enough, and their children (I do believe), and grandchildren, the giants, and on down the supernatural road of affinity.

To my understanding there were about 500 of them left after the flood. Ninety of them went to Easter Island. Here they mingled with the inhabitants (I have talked to many of the folks on the islands concerning this issue). Many not even knowing some of their wives were of this nature, supernatural. Some played the prophet, and gave advice and told fortunes to the inhabitants. Some used their powers to take and others to kill. Many of these hybrids lived in caves. Some of the women even kidnapped men.

If you were to visit Easter Island you would notice if you dare to venture beyond the normal pathways of the tourist, notice the underground cavities between the harder volcanic strata, there rests softer deposits where at one time were, or was a subterranean river, or so it seems. It was for sleeping places of the Sprits. There you will see more then a half dozen such places, below the floors of these hug chamber walls and roofs with granite slabs. Here is where they hid, confined themselves; performed cannibalism like their forefathers the giants, the Nefilim and the Watchers, but mostly the giants of old. This is where the huge statues to their fathers the Nefilim and the Watches, were created to worship them as gods.

The Gods

The natives killed some of the Spirits accidentally. In one day 23-were killed by a madman who ate a poisonous Octopus, thus leaving 55-spirits on the island left. At night the Spiri ts often attacked the humans, paralyzing them while sleeping, trying to capture their soul, locking them up into their nightmares and dreams; thus killing them via heart attack or disease; making them uncomfortable.

The 21st Century

You knew wed hit the 21st century eventually didnt you? Of course you did. It is our time. Today some of the Spirits still live and haunt the crater of Rano Raraku, so I heard when I was on Easter Island. I have been there, and it surely could be so. If this is the case, I believe it smells like a hot spot for such activity, and if the Nefilim are still around, it could be their home. These Spirits are a link to the network of the Nefilim, and Lucifer, whom are putting into place the last battle to be. The time when the epitaph of mankind will be spelled out, and the stones come tumbling down. None of this is by accident, it is a long drawn out plan; a conspiracy. Matter of fact so complex, most of the players do not know what t he other one is going to do from one minute to the next.

The Spirits of Lemuria are not simply on Easter Island, but I believe a few in Bali, and Java, and other places I have been, and Guam, and throughout the Pacific. The Bird Cult is still alive and left over from the days of Lemuria and Atlantis, on some of the Pacific islands. The statues are no more then the divinity of the angelic force that gave birth to the hybrids. The hats you see on the stones are a token from Tahiti, a mark of royalty, the leader, probability, Azazel, or one of his 16-angelic generals.

Conclusion

And so in closing, I simply want to remind you, it doesnt matter if one believes in Atlantis or for that matter Lemuria. Or the Giants or even the four-worlds that were before this one: our time. The stones tell no lies, except if you are looking for lies. There was a race here and we humans did live among that race, or species. How did they get here is a question you may have to answer, if mine is not good enough. And if you think we are not living in the end times of this life cycle, than look again, what do you call it? This is not heaven on earth, but rather it is exactly what we sense, and that is the End of Days.

Expressionist Art in the 20th Century

EXPRESSIONISM 1905-1925

In the early twentieth century the art movement known as Expressionism emerged and was quickly included in the literature about art. Its mark was intense colour, dashed or even disturbing brushstrokes, plus a haphazard use of space. Expressionist artists used distortion and exaggeration, in order to create an emotional effect on the viewer.

Expressionism influenced the fine arts, the dance, the cinema, literature and the theatre.

Other efforts used to arouse the emotions were distortion, primitivism and fantasy. The formal elements were juxtaposed, thus making the effect even disturbing to the viewer.

Expressionism became one of the main art streams during the early 20th century. Self-expression was adopted by the modern artists, and also in the art movements which followed. The world was to witness the artists feelings, rather than enjoy a clever artistic imitation of the world with was more familiar. Art works were the arti sts' personal interpretation of whatever they painted, rather than a depiction the real thing. They believed this gave their work a truer meaning and a life of its own.

Some schools of thought consider expressionism to have been influenced by the work of artists Paul Czanne and Vincent van Gogh and Fauvism. Expressionism became an international art movement.

English Major Barbarisms

Early on I decided that the career of an English teacher was the vocation for which I was best suited. I read and studied voraciously and tried hard to build my vocabulary.

In college I was overwhelmed with assigned reading and had to speed through books so fast that I couldn't really enjoy them.. They got mixed up because of being read simultaneously. For instance, after a course called The Picturesque Novel, I read how Oliver Gulliver travels On the Road with friends named Tom Jones and Tristram Shandy, shouts Yahoo when he eats a huckleberrry, and recaptures a fugitive black man named Lord Jim, who's afraid of Virginia Woolf and is rooming with Roderick at Random House .

The next year I read about a couple of brothers named Karamazov and their sister Carrie acting out The American Tragedy, the men contracting a disease called Moby-Dick. They all write pustulary scarlet letters to women named Pamela and Clarissa. A Frenchman named A. Tranj falls asleep in h is mother's coffin and dreams of being a catcher in the rye, protecting children from drunken overeaters named Gargantua and Pantagruel,. The sun also rose on Madame Bovary committing crimes and suffering punishment for pulling the wings off doves (one flew over the cuckoo's nest anyway), for which she was stripped of her red badge of courage and left naked and dead. Marcel Proust served cookies to someone named Madeleine. The hallucinogenic prose/poem Rhyme of Silas Mariner by Samuel Eliot Coleridge resonated with memorable lines such as Water, water everywhere/ Where are my buckets, my buckets! Coleridge was actually a pen name of Marianne Evans, who was having an affair with Kate Chopin while her French alter ego(s) George(s) Sand engaged in a menage a toit with composer Franz Schindler Liszt and Aman dine Aurore Lucie Dupin, who was literature's first lady detective and solved the mysteries of Edgar Allan Poe. See Murders@droom.org.

On my comprehensive exam, responding to a question about archetypal heroes thwarted in their desire for power, and rotating from wheel to whoa, I wrote of Augie's march through a bleak house of seven gables bellowing from there to eternity in a rant filled with sound and fury signifying his pride and prejudice, and demanding the return of his native son.

The examiners passed me with high honors and I graduated with great expectorations. I looked forward eagerly to the task of awakening and molding young minds to the treasures of whirled literature. Transcripts and completed employment application will follow.

Make Your Party Memorable

Everyone knows that the majority of people are happy when their stomachs are full and the only way to get them to fill up on food is if it is enjoyable and exciting food. The two things that we can all agree on is that everyone loves to remember their good memories as a child and the second on is that we all have a sweet tooth. The best way to get the most bangs for your buck and accomplish both purposes is to rent a cotton candy machine for your next party. It does not matter if it is a childs party or a business function everyone will love the machine.

Cotton candy has been around since the late 1800s and has been a staple of every circus and carnival ever since. The reason is that it is easy to make, cheap to make, easy to eat and most of all fun and tasty to consume. The ability to make your own for your party guests is just a phone call away. The simplistic design makes these machine cheap to make and even cheaper to rent out. Your local party rental shop will have at least one and your local hardware store may even have some inexpensive and high quality machines to be purchased. Those few dollars will pay you back ten fold when your guests are pleased beyond words to stroll down memory lane with arguably the most memorable food of their childhood.

Nobody is really sure where to credit the invention of the machine to as it has been a point of argument for over one hundred years but the bottom line is that it is tasty and some genius invented it. The details are interesting to think about but only for a few minutes before you take your first bite of cotton candy. After that it is just great that it has been invented.

Mestory History Chapter One Rascal's Spiritual Life Series

The name of this series of articles is Mestory History because it is about me, Rascal. Yet it is His, God's, story. All recorded writings and oral traditions involving His created beings on this planet, Earth, are rightfully classified as History. I suspect the person who first coined the word, History, had the revelation of this fact in so selecting this name which is normally used in reference to records involving earlier events, activities, and in the lives of His people here. I am but thankful that my name is recorded in His Book Of Life.

I was a child of a promise. My mother first gave birth to my sister, Rita. Five years later, she gave birth to my brother, Robert. When my mother became pregnant a third time she did as her husband wanted, she had an illegal Abortion. Not too long afterwa rd, mother became pregnant again, with me. When my father, Clarimont Earl Miles, told my mother to have another Abortion, Mildred Anna Heck Miles refused.

I made a promise to God that I would never have another Abortion, Buddy she said with unquestioned resolve.

Just chalk this one up to me, Mildred, dad forcefully respondedcertain that his directive would settle the matter. Having been raised a Mormon, Dad believed that when, as Mother had insisted, they had married in the Roman Catholic Church, any chance for him of an eternal after-life was long gone. Especially, as he had signed a piece of paper agreeing that any ch ildren of their sacramental union would be raised in his wife's faith. His wife had never defied him before.

I will not, Bud! If this means that we must get a divorce, we will do that. I promised God. You didn't! The priest wouldn't even grant me absolution for my other horrible Abortion. I cannot even receive Holy Communion, Buddy. Mother never so much as wavered in her resolve.

I hope that you know what you are saying, Mildred. We have two children already. What makes you think that we can afford to have another one? You're just being stubborn, Mildred!

No, Buddy, I'm not. But, I am going to have this child! I can take in laundry, work cleaning other people's houses, or I'll find some other job, if you believe that we need more money. We'll be just fine, Bud!

I just hope you kn ow what you're getting us into, Mildred. With those final words, the issue was settled.

On October 15, 1947, in what is now called Baker City, Oregon, I was born into this world. While I have no recall of this event, I was later told that my mother was very happy, while my father was horrified by my obvious Birth defect. It was a lump on the upper rim of my right ear. Dad insisted that it should be removed. It never has been. Now, as my ears have continued to grow for 58 years, the small abnormality is barely visible. The 70 plus decibel hearing loss in both my ears I inherited from my watchful mother, was not discovered until my arrival home.

On Learning Guitar Where's the Guarantee?

What a place the world wide web is. So much information. So much knowledge. So much, um - stuff to wade through.

To look at the many commercial Guitar websites out there, youd swear a Satriani was being born every minute. The sites scream out at you play like a pro, insider secrets revealed, master Guitar in 30 days guaranteed Amazing. In fact, all the Guitar systems out there seem to be guaranteed. But guaranteed to what? Have you play like a pro? Have you play a song start to finish?

Actually, theyre guaranteed to the extent that if you return them within a specified time-frame, youll be refunded your money. Thats it. Thats all. Theres no actual guarantee that you will play Guitar. There cant be. Youre a human being. Theres no guarantee on anything.

Thats not to say that you shouldnt aspire to learn Guitar. Its the most wonderful instrument in the world. Go into any local music store and watch the wizards wail, on electric or acoustic. Will you get there? Thats not certain. There are so many variables.

your natural musical inclination
your manual dexteri ty
your musical ear

Those are some of natures gifts (or lack of) which will affect the outcome. Then there are the more physical, down-to-earth factors:

your budget
your time constraints
the rest of your life outside Guitar

Everyone would love to play the Guitar at some point in their life. Thats a fact. The ultimate level of ones success on Guitar is dependent on all the above factors and more. Lessons are never a bad idea, if you can af ford them. Practice, of course, is the only way to improve. Teaching aids such as those found on the internet can be a help. Watching Guitarists (and musicians generally) in action can be an eye-opener and motivator. What it all adds up to is theres no guarantee.

But what about those novices or frustrated players who just cant seem to find the zone? Where the very basics of the instrument seem to be a hindrance. All of the books, all of the coaching, all of the websites and their systems and aids, that dont seem to help. Where progress is limited. Those are the ones I love to pick up. Ive seen them all. From housewives, to six year-olds, to frustrated veterans, even good Guitarists who just want to get better. Ive got the way that is actually different.

My site has the same guarantee as everyone elses if you dont like what you bought, return it and youll get your money back. What I also am able to guarantee is that my system, Guitar-eze, is truly easier. Especially at the outset, when most of your chords are played with one finger. Guitar-eze focuses on open-D tuning. You build from there; theres way less to memorize, and less fingering technique to master upfront. Its easier. Guaranteed.

Frank Foxx is a semi-professional Guitar player and part-time Guitar teacher who plays exclusively in the tuning of open-D. He has written a Guitar method book, extolling the virtues of what he considers to be the most versatile and easiest of all Guitar tunings, entitled Guitar-eze A Simpler Approach to Playing the Guitar. His website is http://www.easierGuitar.com. He keeps a blog at http://open-d.blogspot.com dedicated to helping Guitarists and aspiring Guitarists see the light .
