The Lost Art of Quality in Publishing

There is a growing desire from the public for the sensational stories you read about in the tabloids, however the shock value greatly outweighs the quality of the Writing offered in such publications. When crafting an e-book a similar temptation might arise to shock the audience, or supply them with some juicy revealing nugget of information. The problem is that while this may Help you obtain a few readers, the best work you couldve done will be compromised by your mission to shock, and awe the audience. Instead try focusing on quality, and only release an e-book that you would feel proud to sign your name as author of.

What is quality after all, and why is it not a static thing that can be defined in a word or two? Quality is a complex indicator, most clearly defined as the degree, or grade of somethin g. Quality doesnt always mean something good, or worthwhile. For example, low quality, means not good or poor grade. So what we really want to obtain in Writing e-Books is high quality, as in something that will give value to others. The most valuable thing Authors can offer their readers is their perspective, and information through the clear communicative tone. Most people just want the facts, give them the facts, and you will be better for it, because many Authors skirt around facts as if they were taboo, offering misinformation like it was free gold. Keep your e-book valuable factual content based and you will achieve high quality grades from your readers.

How do we offer quality to our readers if they are unaware of the topic we are Writing about? The easiest way to do this is establish credibility. Often called a credibility statement, writers can offer a sentence or two in their preface, or first chapter of the e-book explaining why they are qualified to offer c ommentary on the topic of choice. Maybe its a book about how to change the oil in your car, and the author has been a mechanic for 15 years, specializing in oil changes. If he offers this information in the beginning of the book, you bet Im going to believe his words as truthful fact, because after all, his expert testimony about the topic is worth reading about.

To ensure the e-book you author will be of the highest quality chose the right topic. The topic choice will more then likely dictate the chances for high quality, because if its a topic you are credible to write about, quality will come in the process. If its a topic you have no experience with, your work will be only be as good as those written by others with no experience. So pick a topic that you are an expert on, make quality, not shock value, the priority, and you will land yourself an e-book worth more then its weight in gold.
