Launch on the 25th day of August year 1994, My so called life was an American television teen drama created by Winnie Holzman and produced by Edward Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. It was short lived and ended with a cliffhanger last May of 1995. It is a realistic mid-nineties teen drama series that includes child abuse, homophobia, teenage alcoholism, homelessness, adultery, kinky sex, same-sex parenting, censorship, and drug use, among many others.
The main characters are as follows. Claire Danes as Angela Chase, the fifteen year old girl who is the focus of the story. Bess Armstrong as Patty Chase she is Angelas mother the bread winner of the family, Tom Irwin as Graham Chase the father of Angela a mother like affectionate parent, Lisa Wilhoit as Danielle Chase the younger sister of Angela, A.J. Langer as Rayanne Graff, Angelas new best friend, Wilson Cruz as Enrique Vasquez the gay best friend of Rayanne. Devon Odessa as Sharon Cherski, Angelas best friend through out her childhood. Devon Gummersall as Brian Krakow plays as the geek of the show and Jared Leto as Jordan Catalano, He is Angelas love interest.
The story revolves with a fifteen year old girl going through a lot of changes in her teenage life. Some of the problems she deal with are the awakening of sexuality, the fall of parental figures from the superego, a propensity for abstract thought and a thirst for independence. In addition to this she also has literary ambitions that make her believable for her metaphysical considerations. My so called life DVD emphasizes the problems and struggles of a typical teenager. The perception of meaninglessness that many teenagers experience is the main theme of the series. The show deals with the reality of the difficulties and confusions in the teenage years.
