Jessica Simpson

Jessica Simpson, the daughter of a former Baptist minister and a former Sunday school teacher was born in the suburb of Texas. At the early age of 12 Jessica Simpson started singing in her Baptist choir. During that time, she tried out for the Mickey Mouse Club unsuccessfully. As you may already know, The Mickey Mouse Club was starred with the likes of her fellow Pop singers, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberland and many others.

Did you know? Jessica Simpson recorded her first album while attending J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson, Texas when she surprised the head of a small contemporary Christian record label. Jessica Simpson recorded her first album over three years. Unfortunately, the label flopped and the album was never released. Jessica Simpson was so proud of her album that she forfeited her senior year in order to tour and promote her demo album. Her grandmother bank rolled the project. I believe Jessica named her holiday 2004 album Rejoyce The Christmas Album after her grandmother's name Joyce. Oh yes, she eventually managed to earn her GED. Jessica and her Dad decided to tour with the Christian Youth Conference circuit where she had the chance to perform with the likes of Kirk Franklin, God's Property and CeCe Winans. After every performance, she sold copies of her album.

Although growing up as a Christian singer, Jessica Simpsons album landed in the hands of Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records who thought that she had great potential to be a pop singer. So he signed her. Even today, much of her music has some Christian influences.

Jessica Simpson debut album came about late 1999. The album name was Sweet Kisses that top 25 of the U.S. Billboard 200 Chart and also made the top forty of the UK charts. I have to say the sold two million copies in the U.S.

I wanna Love You Forever platinum single rose to top 5 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and the top ten in Canada and the UK.

Where You Are a duet with her boyfriend Nick Lachey of 98 Degrees was loved by the radio and became a hit.

I Think I'm in Love with You hit top 40 in the U.S. and top 20 in Canada and the UK.

Jessica Simpson also earned some prestigious awards like her 2000 Teen Choice Awards for Choice Breakout Artist. I believe she also won it for her first single Where are You.

Did you know? Jessica Simpson appeared on the 98 Degrees video My Everything.

In 2001 Jessica Simpson Irresistible top ten of the Billboard 200 and top twenty of the Canadian album chart. The album's sales was only certified gold in the U.S. for selling 500,000 copies. Although the single Irresistible reached the top twenty in the U.S., Canada, the UK, and top forty in Australia.

A Little Bit was released but did not achieve substantial success. In 2002, Columbia Records released a EP remix album titled This Is the Remix containing electro-dance remixes of Simpson's biggest h its.

Soon after she married Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson released her third album, In This Skin during the summer of 2003. This album premiere in her debut show with her husband Nick Lachey. Again the album was not a huge success. In the Spring of 2004, She hit the charts with a special collector's edition which peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 and the top forty of the UK charts. I believe her wedding to Nick Lachey really helped the success of the album which by the way turn out to be her most successful after selling almost three million copies in the U.S. With You the single was a huge hit.

Jessica Simpson made her first major film appearance as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard in the summer of 2005. The film was number one on the U.S. box-office chart taking a cool over thirty million dollars. She also sang the remake of the film's soundtrack These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.

Jessica Simpsons track won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Son g from a Movie in early 2006.

Jessica Simpson broke ties with Columbia Records and went on recording with Epic Records her next album A Public Affair released the past August.
