Who is Dedicated to "Keep Clogging Strong!?"

HELP - Clogging is Ready for the Next Level

Have you ever wondered why clogging isn't as well known as other dance forms? What's held clogging back? Through research, we believe we've found one small problem: Procrastination!

A quote states, The sooner I fall behind, the more time I have to catch up. While most of us do not intentionally fall behind, Procrastination often slows clogging dance progression. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Procrastination as Intentionally putting off what should be done.

Who's to say that clogging can't stand with the likes of tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, or other dance forms. Are we all doing our part to promote clogging? When's the last time you invited a non-clogger friend to one of your dance practices? The reasons that people tend to procrastinate or put things off are as diverse as the tasks that they put off. In the end, most tasks are delayed due to one reason; we perceive that performing the task will be worse than the consequence of putting it off. We can't be afraid to promote clogging! The longer we procrastinate, the longer it will take for clogging to be highly recognized as we all know it should.

Many of us can relate to the following example. Remember a time when you had a clogging competition or performance coming up in two weeks. Now remember the midnight oil you burnt the night before reviewing the da nces over and over? Why did you wait? Maybe you decided to hang out with your friends, maybe you had to work, and maybe it was something else. Regardless of the reason, you decided that taking the time to critique the dances and sharpen them up would be worse than spending all night the day before the big event.

Many of the reasons that we procrastinate promoting clogging may not be as simple as when we had the overnight audition, but the concept is still the same. To truly avoid Procrastination, it usually requires a change in the way we think. Promoting clogging should be something we think about often - what can I do to promote clogging today? How can I increase my clogging awareness and productivity? Listed below are a few simple suggestions that we might use.

1. Look to th e Future of Clogging - focus on the benefits of progression in clogging. Think about the consequences of putting it off - it will only hold all cloggers back. By promoting clogging frequently, you will avoid the discouragement of having other things get in the way. Try to think of how you feel when you complete goals - you are able to enjoy the experience and see the fruit of your labor. Think about where you want to arrive with clogging. Are you the next Sherry Glass? Do you want to instruct with the likes of Jeff Driggs? Is All That a team you look up to? These goals have to be kept in mind to avoid Procrastination of promoting clog dance.

2. Promote Clogging Now - do not wait. Alot of your personal clogging skill development and promotion is up to you. As you develop your own clogging skills and share them with others, one thing will lead to another.

3. Accept the Best That You Can Do - no one is perfect. When performing clogging routines, do not wait until you are perfect in every way. Clog the best that you can, share your talents, and then move on. Accept that you will occasionally make a mistake, but know that every time you perform, people are watching. You never know what effect you'll have on them. The best you can do is all that can be asked of you. The best cloggers understand this and rise to the occasion. They keep clogging strong!

4. Make a Clogging Plan of Attack - take time to plan how you intend to promote clogging. The effective use of a clogging promotion to-do list will help you to avoid Procrastination by keeping you focused on specific goals. This plan needs to include a time for practicing clogging steps for yourself. Maybe you practice while walking down the shopping center isle; maybe you dance while walking through the kitchen; wherever you are, your plan must be to perfect clogging skills, create a unique clogging step, and keep clogging strong! - take clogging to the next level!

5. Reward Yourself - when you finish an important performance or dance event, shout for joy. Take time to celebrate. Pat yourself on the back; kick your clogging feet up for a minute. Maybe buy yourself a special treat. By rewarding yourself, you will keep the enthusiasm you need to ClogOn! Watching a recording of your performance can be a great reward. Looking at clogging pictures can be really helpful. Not only can you analyze things to improve on, but you can also recognize all the good things you've done. Don't forget to accentuate the positive in all your clogging endeavors.

6. Take it One Clog ging Step at a Time - Clogging will not get to the top overnight. It will be a step by step process. No one has ever climbed Mount Everest in one bound. The only way up is one clogging step at a time. With patience and persistence, there's only one way clogging can go - UP!
