Dance the Sock Hop into the 50's

A 50s Theme Party is a fun way to celebrate a Birthday, a retirement or a corporate event. In the 50s Sock Hops, convertible cars and music were becoming increasingly popular. Use these or any other symbol from the 1950s to use in your Celebration.

To invite your guests, get invitations from a Party supply store. They can come in shapes or with classic cars, poodle skirts, fuzzy dice or a jukebox. Other Party Supplies can coordinate and include plates, cups, napkins and tablecloths. Balloons and crepe paper can come in matching Themes or colors too. These Supplies can be found at any Party supply store.

If you have room, set up like a Sock Hop. Tell guests to come in wardrobe from the 50s like poodle skirts, jeans rolled up and slicked back hair. Use ribbons in your hair or even wear bobby Socks and shoes if you can find them. Play music only from the 50s and Dance the night away.

Games to play during a 50s Theme Party include a Sock Hop-a-thon. See who can Dance the longest. Play 50s style trivia. Make categories of events that happened during the 50s like sports, movies, music, tv and inventions. Make up questions or simply see who can list the most for each category. Winner can get personalized fuzzy dice or a record with their name on it. Hand out posters of famous people from the day.

Other activities to do during a 50s Theme Party can be impersonations. Use charades or hire a performer to act like famous people. See who can guess the most or has the best acting ability. Have fun with it! Take pictures and put into a scrapbook to remember the fun event. Send coordinating thank you notes if Gifts were exchanged.
